What Is Softwashing ?

Softwashing is a method of cleaning which consists of using a mixture of low pressure & specialised chemicals to clean exterior hard surfaces.

Softwashing safely removes the staining caused by micro-organisms such as algae, lichen, mould & moss, which commonly grow on roofs, walls, driveways & patios.

It is so named to differentiate the method from pressure washing.

The Benefits of Softwashing vs Pressure Washing

While pressure washing alone gives immediate results, it has no long lasting effect. Micro organisms will soon re-colonise & grow on the affected surface. Using specialised cleaning solutions will ensure the surface stays free of growth for much longer compared to pressure washing alone.

Roof tiles, for example, will stay clean for many years after a softwash treatment, due to the residual effect the solution has on the surface. Roof tiles and softer materials such as natural stone, often used for Patios, should always be cleaned with care! Pressure washing strips away the surface of softer materials, causing irreversible damage.

Softwashing is by far the safest and most effective method of cleaning. Often combined with low pressure or hot steam cleaning, the results are far superior and long lasting.
